TOP TUITION HOTSPOTS IN THE UK

Private Tuition demand is becoming popular in the major urban areas of the North as well as its traditional strongholds in the South, according to new regional data released by First Tutors.

Usually, top growth hotspots for private Tuition demand include eleven plus exam regions like Berkshire and Kent but the latest findings have shown some unexpected results.

The biggest year on year growth in searches for tuition was along the M62 corridor from Liverpool and Manchester through to Leeds. Showing similarly strong growth were major cities: Glasgow, Cardiff and the Greater Birmingham area.

At the top of the table Greater London, but particularly Twickenham, Bromley and Pinner ranked the highest in the country for tuition demand for Personal tutors. In the central boroughs, NW1 remains prominent as a long established tuition hotspot, with Tooting and Wandsworth just behind.

The data cements London's position as private tuition capital of the UK; a trend also observed by the Sutton Trust in 2009, which reported that a staggering 43% of London pupils receive private tuition during their school lives.

Data is collated on a continuous basis by First Tutors, a web-based “find-your-own tutor” service, listing over 15,000 private tutors and serving tens of thousands of families.

First Tutors is a nationwide-online platform enabling parents to search and find a UK private tutor in their local area; for primary, secondary and degree level private or home tuition.

All tutors profiles list CRB check status, qualifications and hourly rates. Families can then choose a tutor according to their household schedules and budget and can decide whether they would prefer the tutor to travel to them.

The business was the recent winner at the inaugural Education Investor Awards 2010 for Best Supplementary Education Provider. First Tutors demonstrated its commitment to helping families feeling the pinch by not passing on the VAT increase to its customers earlier this year.
