Report On The Information In The Hands Of The Board Of Directors
Experts from IE and everis state that directors of large Companies receive a lot of financial information and little strategic information.

The members of the Boards of Directors of the main Spanish Companies receive a lot of information on financial and accounting aspects but have little data on the strategic management of their companies, or technological risks, corporate reputation or information. This is thus shown in the I Report on the Information in the hands of the Board of Directors in Spanish Companies developed by the Information Observatory of the Board of Directors of the Instituto de Empresa (Business Institute) (IE) and Everis.

Among the main conclusions, the report reflects that the Boards of Directors handle a lot of information of financial and accounting nature on their companies but they lack a lot of strategic details. Furthermore, they devote a lot of time to analysing past decisions and much less time to planning possible future actions. “One third of the companies stated they had only received financial information relating to the past and almost two thirds devote more time to analysing past financial information than future financial information,” indicates Tomás Garicano, co-author of the report, professor of the Business Institute and Director of the information Observatory of the Board of Directors of the Business Institute and Everis.
