Life Insurance Companies Challenged With HIV Positive Clients

Mendham, NJ 4/29/10 -- Life Insurance South Africa reports that life insurance companies are now being challenged with HIV positive clients. When HIV first became a disease mentioned in the mainstream press, being diagnosed with it was an automated death sentence. Like many other terminal diseases, Insurers refused to extend coverage to people who were diagnosed with HIV.

Today, advances in medicine have extended the life spans of most HIV positive individuals and made it possible for a person to live a relatively normal life without ever developing full blown AIDS. For this reason, insurers are reconsidering their position on the disease and some are now offering coverage to individuals who test HIV positive as long as they can meet certain other age and health restrictions.

One thing that will still guarantee that one is denied coverage is waiting until the disease turns into full blown AIDS. Some companies still do not offer coverage to those with HIV, but a growing number will under strict conditions.
