Budget Ads Steer Traffic to Author's Site
(NewDesignWorld Press Release Center) -- Portland, OR, June 15, 2009 -- Inexpensive ads that invite readers to participate in a Vizu poll to choose the actor they feel would be best to play Detective Frank Callahan in a film version of The DVD Murders has dramatically increased the traffic to the author’s site. The ads were run on myspace.com, and through Google® AdWords and BidVertiser®.com, services that allow users to set daily budgets and CPC (cost per click of the advertiser’s URL). In a single day, for example, at a total cost of only $28.28 more than one hundred myspace visitors checked out the site, an outstanding number for an author’s homepage. Traffic from AdWords and Bidvertiser has been significant and steady
The actors in the poll are some of Hollywood’s hottest male stars and include George Clooney, Hugh Jackman, Colin Farell, Matthew McConaughey, and Christopher Meloni. According to the author, Bob Frey, Meloni is the leading choice at the present time.
The crime-fiction novel follows Detective Callahan, a big, rough and blue-collar cop who is gay as he and his straight sidekick, Barry, pursue the elusive DVD killer over the streets of Hollywood, through gay bars and cruising grounds, Forest Lawn, and other LA landmarks. There is a hilarious gay bathhouse episode, an Oscar-winning chase that ends up in Six Flags Magic Mountain, and a climax that is reminiscent of the legendary gangster film, White Heat. Loaded with classic film references, the gay element gives the story a unique twist and adds humor and insight.
A film option has not yet been made on the novel, but speculation as to who will play the gay protagonist in the film version has been high. For more information about The DVD Murders and to participate in the poll, go to www.BobFreyBooks.com.
“Bob Frey has written a memorable character by defying stereotypes in creating a whole person who is neither sinner nor saint. Frank Callahan is just the kind of man needed to stop the DVD killer before more Hollywood stars drop from the sky.”
