Along the Fortune Trail Wins Award at 2010 Hollywood Book Festival


(NewDesignWorld Press Release Center) -- Bellevue, WA, July 28, 2010 -- Harvey Goodman's 'Along the Fortune Trail has been named the Runner-Up in the "Genre" category of the 2010 Hollywood Book Festival www.hollywoodbookfestival.com. Goodman's novel, a western set in the Colorado/New Mexico territories in 1870-71, follows the adventures of a young cowboy, Sammy Winds, who happens upon the opportunity of a lifetime after an unlikely encounter with a murderous outlaw leaves Winds a chance at a fortune. But to collect it, he must make a five-hundred mile journey that will test all of his skills and forever change his life.

This is Goodman's first novel and second award; he also posted a top-five finish earlier this year with "Honorable Mention" in the "Fiction" category of the 2009 Los Angeles Book Festival

About Harvey Goodman
Harvey Goodman grew up in Los Angeles and attended the University of Colorado where he studied history and developed a love for western literature and the great outdoors. He visited and worked in some of the west's remotest locations during his years running an oilfield vessel-buildings outfit. Mr Goodman went on to teach history and coach football, eventually becoming a high school principal, and superintendent of schools.

Mr. Goodman excelled as an athlete, being named the MVP of the University of Colorado football team his senior season, and was selected as a starting guard for The Senior Bowl, The Coaches All-America Game, and The East-West Shrine Game. He was drafted by the St. Louis Football Cardinals and played in thirty-two NFL games, including the 1976 season with the Denver Broncos.

Harvey and his wife, Gabrielle, have three sons, Matthew, Brian, and Sean, all of whom have served, or are currently serving in the United States Army. Matthew and Sean have completed deployments in Iraq, and the entire Goodman family continues to pray for the safety, success, and well-being of all our service people and their families.

Mr. Goodman lives in Westcliffe, Colorado. This is his first novel.
