IPL Awards Event Designer Sues IPL Commissioner & Agency
Propaganda Media & Marketing’s Chief Entertainment Strategist has served legal notice to sue the IPL Commissioner and event Agency Cineyug’s Morani brothers for proprietary rights, credits and financial compensation.
The T20 Indian Premier League Awards, approximately Rs.800 crore revenue resource for BCCI, was conceptualised and presented to the IPL committee by Mr. Gaurav Garg, and his team who were functioning jointly with Cineyug Group under the proposed joint venture – “Cineyug Signature”, which was functioning as the specialised arm for creating IPL Awards since 2008 and other large-format-televised events which have been created and pitched by Gaurav and awarded to Cineyug Group.
It is not only the creative loss to the work of professionals like Gaurav Garg but the methodology of leaching from the common man with various under hand deals of Cineyug & IPL and nexus of interested parties that have led to a direct financial loss of Rs.87 Lakh, which is part of the overall dues payable to Propaganda of 35% earnings to the tune of Rs.20 Crore, collectively over 3 years.
Furthermore, it seems all aspects of the BCCI are under sale to people connected to the IPL Commissioner. It has been declared by the Morani’s that ‘IPL Awards’ is exclusive to Cineyug Films and registered under the Indian Copyright Act 1957 and Trade Mark under the name of Mohomed Morani. The question arises how an Agency (Cineyug) was allowed to register a copyright to BCCI event.
Even on having sought the basic direct outstanding payments to the event conceptualisation as per the notice that was served on 17th April 2010, the Morani’s of Cineyug continue to deny the claim and are wanting to wash away the total issue so they can take complete advantage of the awards function, solely, scheduled on 23rd April 2010.
