Moserbaer launched their films with A Musical Evening by acclaimed Shivamani and Mahalaksmi Iyar
It was the occasion of announcement of Moserbaer entry in the home Video Market. Shivamani, Mahalaskhmi Iyar, stars Rahul Bose, Esha Deol, Ace Music Director Lalit and Moser Baer’s Chief Executive Officer of the Entertainment Division, Chairman & Managing Director Deepak Puri were present to make this occasion as a gala event. Moser Baer, who have already entered the home video market by obtaining rights for over 7,000 Indian films and have made DVDs and VCDs priced at just Rs 34 and Rs 28 respectively, have also announced two feature films starring stars Rahul Bose and Esha Deol among others.
The film ‘Shaurya’ with the backdrop of the Indian Army will have Rahul Bose in the main lead and will be directed by Samar Khan. The film was the tale of three characters but the other cast had not been finalized yet. The other film is ‘Ishan’ starring Esha Deol will be directed by Anthony De Souza. This film will also star Shreyas Talpade and Chunky Pandey, and will have music by Lalit.
Acclaimed artistes Mahalakshmi Iyer, Shivamani and Naresh Iyer performed at a gala musical evening to mark the launch with songs like Dil se Re…from the film ‘Dil se’, Aai Sala from ‘Rang De Basanti’ and title song of the same film Thodi Si Dhool. Mahalakshmi entertained audience in her own style with songs like Chalka Chalka Re from the film ‘Sathiya’, Chup Chup Ke Chup Chupke from Bunty Aur Babli.
Harish Dayani, Chief Executive Officer of the Entertainment Division of Moser Baer India Limited, told in reply to a question that he did not anticipate any problems from pirates and said that the low price in fact gave an opportunity to them to turn into legitimate distributors. He said that adequate research had been carried out before the decision to enter the home video market was taken.
Moser Baer also formally inaugurated the online website www.moserbaervideo.com on this occasion, so that they can reach the consumers directly through out the country. The website has online payment mechanism so that the consumers can buy all their requirements without any hassle. The website offers titles in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Non-film titles and soon titles from English, Telugu, Marathi and other languages will be made available.
Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Puri said that the company had simply decided to use its expertise in optical disc storage in the Entertainment field. But the results were beyond their expectations, he added.
Esha said the low prices would cut into the illegal trade of the pirates; Rahul said that great art purifies the soul and should therefore be accessible to everyone. The low pricing would ensure that, he added. He said this could trigger a social change by bringing about a greater democratization of the arts.
