A Look Back into the 2006 Holiday Season: More People Buy and Sell Online Quite Late
Hawthorn, Australia 5 January 2007--- The release of Think Partnership's Online Shopping Statistics for the 2006 Holiday Season bares more than just the habits of people as they buy and sell online. Think Partnership Inc. is an international in interactive performance-based marketing, research, and related Internet technologies. Generally, their findings is that most consumers ordered their online purchases quite late in the holiday season.
People's busy and time-consuming lifestyles may be responsible for this, as it has become quite normal for people to do their holiday shopping to the last minute. But what Think Partnership's statistics reveals is that, now, consumers are putting more faith in e-commerce and people who sell online generally, so much so that they are willing to put their gift orders just a week before Christmas.
After all, in the thick of the holiday rush, it's not just about getting the best buys, but making sure those holiday gifts arrive at the doorstep in time for Christmas too. Inevitably, the holiday season is also a peak time for phishers and other fraudalent online sellers, but this hasn't deterred consumers from making their online purchases.
To quote from Think Partnership's results.
- Online traffic and buying continued to rise through December 18.
- From December 19-25 the number of online shopping carts created fell nearly 80 percent from previous weeks.
- The heaviest online shopping day in terms of carts created was Monday.
- The majority of online purchases were made on either Mondays or Tuesdays.
- The shopping cart abandonment rate was lowest on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- The average items per cart and the average cart value was higher between November 27 - December 18 than any other period during the year.
If anything, this simple slice of statistics will give online retailers and free classified ads sites more insight to people's buying and selling habits. If more people are made aware that the online market is a safe place to do business in, and at the same time, more crackdowns are made to put a stop on scams, then more people will readily embrace the online buy sell trade.
