£1,500 worth of prizes up for grabs as UNITE and Harvey Nichols join forces to launch SkyShot –
The search is on for a star student snapper as UNITE, the UK’s largest accommodation for students provider, introduces SkyShot – a new photography competition to capture Leeds on camera.
Launching on 26 January*, the competition marks the forthcoming opening of UNITE’s new Sky Plaza property in Leeds. Set to be the highest point in Leeds next September, Sky Plaza will offer students stunning views of the city alongside contemporary city centre living. The high-spec property will be one of the most luxurious leeds student housing options available to students anywhere in the UK.
To mark the new opening – which is available to book now for the academic year 09/10 - UNITE has joined forces with Harvey Nichols to challenge Leeds students to capture their favourite views and aspects of the city.
From well-known landmarks and cityscapes to interesting people or hidden gems, the SkyShot competition is searching for the most striking, intriguing, moving or amusing images.
SkyShot offers a top prize of £500 and four runners up will each receive £250. All five finalists will see their photographs exhibited in Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor Café in March, and be invited to attend an exclusive evening reception at the store where the overall winner will be announced.
The SkyShot judging panel includes:
• Nathan Goddard - Sales and Marketing Director for UNITE
• Ross Williams - Head of Photography at Leeds College of Art and Design
• Brian Handley – General Manager of Harvey Nichols, Leeds
To enter, students simply need to upload their photographs to the UNITE website where the best entries will be profiled on an online gallery. Students should visit www.unite-students.com/skyshot for more information and terms and conditions.
To make the most of university life in Leeds, students can now live the high life by choosing UNITE’s new Sky Plaza student accommodation in Leeds city centre.
