USB Pen Drive
|
|
|
USB Pen Drive is a small keyring-sized device that can be used to easily transfer files between USB-compatible systems. Available in a range of capacities (and in some cases, with an MP3 player built-in) this handy little gizmo can save all those data-transfer hassles.
How do I use it?
Simple. Plug it into the USB port* of your PC (or Mac!) and watch the system automatically detect the new device. Take at look at your system drives... a new drive has been created! The operating system can now access your USB Pen Drive just like any ordinary Hard Disk Drive.
Copy across all the files you want to the 'new' drive, wait for the Read/Write LED on the USB Pen Drive to stop flashing then disconnect it. That's it. Your files are now safely stored on your USB Pen Drive. If you want to copy those files to another PC/Mac, just plug it in the new machine, wait for it to be detected and copy them off again.
* If you don't want to reach round to the back of your PC every time to plug it in, you can use the handy Docking Bay to give you USB Pen Drive access right from your desktop.
What's USB?
For a good few years now, most Motherboards have been built with an on-board facility called USB.
USB - Universal Serial Bus, is a 'standard' developed by the computer industry to allow a vast number of different devices to be easily attached to one machine with the minimum requirement for extra drivers and software and still operate at an efficient speed.
Put simply, this means: We can plug a USB device in without switching the PC off, it will be automatically detected by the Operating System and will be ready for use in a few seconds. The USB Pen Drive is one of those devices.
Summary
This is file transfer/storage in its safest and most convenient form.
The USB Pen Drive is shock-proof, dust-proof and weighing a mere 21 grams, it needs no batteries, has no moving parts and is available in range of capacities from 32MB to a massive 1GB!
It's supported by Windows ME/2000/XP, Mac OS (ver. 8.6 or above) and Linux kernel (version 2.4.0 or above) without drivers, Windows 98/Windows 95 OSR2 (with supplied USB Driver).
USB Drive Uses
Small enough to hook onto a keychain, USB pen drive emulates a small disk drive and allows data to be transferred easily from one device to another. The way it works is very simple. It also works very fast. Since it is a relatively newer device, manufacturers are launching it with added capabilities and higher storage power. Some of the purposes for which it can be used are discussed below.
To transport personal data
The commonest use of USB pen drive is to transport or store personal files such as documents, pictures and video. One can also store medical alert information for emergency use or as preparation against disaster.
Repairing computer
Successful usage of USB pen drive has been noticed in the PC repair field as a means to transfer recovery and antivirus software to infected PCs. It also allows a portion of the host machine's data to be archived in it in case of emergency.
System administrators’ helper
System and network administrators find USB pen drive highly handy to load them with configuration information and software used for system maintenance, troubleshooting, and recovery. Such use of this portable device makes it popular among them.
As an application carrier
USB pen drives are used to carry applications that run on the host computer without the necessity of installation. U3, backed by pen drive vendors, offers an API to pen drive-specific functions. Portableapps, a free and open-source software, has also been developed to allow U3-like functionality on non-U3 drives. airWRX is also an application framework that runs from a pen drive and turns its PC host and other nearby PCs into a multi-screen, web-like work environment.

Some Useful Tips To Know Your Powerful Software!
|
|
|
When it comes to software it is hard to know which one to choose there are so many brands that offer the same services. You know the quality and the functionality of the programs are different but you have no way to tell which you will prefer by looking at the box. Luckily many software companies have made it easy for you to try before you buy. If you are looking for commercial software that will fit all of your needs the best way to test it out is to get the demoware. Demo ware is a free trial of the software that you can use with fully functioning scripts for a limited time.
Some demoware will let you use the program free of charge for up to 6 weeks. If you download a demoware program and you are not pleased with it you have wasted nothing. You can simply delete it from your computer and try another brand. Not all software companies release their programs as demoware. Sometimes you will find them as shareware. For more details visit to www.software-index-website.com. Shareware differs from demoware because it is usually not fully functioning. Shareware is downloaded with limited access to the full scripts of the program. That means that while you can get a feel for how the program works you must pay for the license before you can try out all the features. There is always the risk that after paying for the program the features that were blocked will not live up to their expectations despite the fact that you were given a preview.
If you are interested in finding demoware or shareware for a particular program or if you would just like to see what is available you can visit a commercial software directory. This is a place online where all kinds of software are available for free download. You may find very useful software that you never knew existed when you visit a commercial software directories. For more details visit to www.pure-profit-software.com. Many of these sites will even offer forums where software users can discuss the best programs available. This can be very helpful when you are not familiar with the many different software manufacturers. Next time you need a piece of software for your business visit a commercial software directories and try before you buy. You might even be lucky enough to find a freeware program that has unrestricted scripts for an unlimited time. That means that you try but never have to buy. Now that is an all around good deal.

3G to Perk India’s Broadband Sector
|
|
|
3G is emerging as the accepted technology platform across geographies as it can deliver high speed data and voice on a single network. Our research, “Indian 3G Mobile Forecast to 2012” identifies that 3G, if used as a data card/modem, will give impetus to the broadband penetration in the country. Penetration of broadband in the country stood at less than 1% in 2008. One of the reasons for the low growth in the Indian broadband market has been the challenge of providing high bandwidth connectivity using landlines, especially in remote and rural areas.
“Rollout of 3G services can also bridge the urban-rural digital divide, facilitating socio-economic development of the masses” says a senior analyst at RNCOS. Telemedicine, e-education and e-governance can be offered through 3G in the rural areas which are definitely going to improve the living standard of people. We foresee that around 15% of the total broadband subscriber base in India will be using the high speed wireless data services via 3G modems or data cards by 2012.
Our research, however, also highlights numerous issues that need to be resolved or carefully worked upon in order to ensure viable growth in the Indian 3G market. Availability of 3G services at par or less than that of current broadband tariffs will remain critical, revealing price sensitiveness of the Indian consumer. The research has also identified quality of service (QoS) and mass market exposure, among others, as imperative for the success of 3G services in the country.
RNCOS’ “Indian 3G Mobile Forecast to 2012” provides thorough analysis of 3G market potential in the Indian telecom market. It discusses the factors and trends contributing to the nationwide deployment of 3G services. The report provides extensive information on the market potential in terms of 3G subscribers, and discovers the key areas critical to the successful adoption of 3G services in India. This report also provides four-year projection (2009-2012) on various segments including mobile subscribers, Internet subscribers, broadband subscribers, 3G mobile subscribers, 3G broadband subscribers, 3G enabled handsets and 3G enabled modems.
